Hours are variable in late winter / early spring and the days and hours expanding with the snow-melt.

Our hours change with the climatic seasons  - always weather permitting. (Call ahead if it is dumping snow, if  the exodus traffic is heinous, or if we've got pea-soup smoke,  just-in-case we've gone home.) We change the hours here (on the website) and on independent Google, Yelp, Bing, Nextdoor, and Facebook sites.  Apple gets its info "elsewhere",  even apple is unsure where, so Apple Maps and Siri usually have wrong hours,  for every business.

We maintain a healthy supply of tropical and indoor appropriate houseplants and bulbs, indoor gardening gear, pottery, potting soils, organic fertilizers and nutrients, as well as seeds and seed-starting supplies. We also have every plant lover's favorite present: gift certificates from your local garden center.

Villager Nursery outdoor areas are open late-winter (Mar-April) through late-December depending on snow persistence. Through mid-winter, someone is usually here, IN the shop, most days (paperwork, plants, and shop-cat needs love). We don't want to let anyone down, so if you need something (plant, product, plans, bids, or consulting) or have questions, PLEASE send-us an e-mail as we check them almost every evening. We'll usually get back to you in a day or two or as soon as we possibly can. You can also call and leave a voice message at 530-587-0771. We tend to be rather busy in our compressed spring (May-June) season and replies may take a bit longer.  contact us - (PLEASE DO NOT USE Facebook messenger. It is unmonitored).

For 49 years, Villager Nursery Garden Center has been serving Truckee, Tahoe and regional high Sierra mountain plant lovers, landscapers and gardeners. Villager Florist started in the original Gateway Center (next to the Gateway Motel) in 1949 (74 yrs), added outdoor plants to the mix (becoming a nursery) in 1975, and relinquished the florist in 1996 to focus exclusively on the garden center and landscape supply.

Our staff are all avid and passionate mt. gardeners who want nothing more than to see every client succeed on their first try. Nothing gives us greater pleasure than happy returning customers who have tasted gardening triumphs. Come by and enjoy the local expertise.

The widest selection of hardy and native plants for the High Sierra, by far. Owners are botanists and plant lovers and everyone at Villager is passionate about helping customers find the right plants for their gardens. They've been at it since the '70's and have a LOT of practical experience atop their educations. "We've killed thousands of plants in our own gardens so our clients won't have to" is something we heard them say. The demonstration gardens are amazing as well.

This is one of the prettiest nurseries I have ever seen. They have a wide selection of plants, including trees, flowers, herbs, etc. The staff is all very friendly and knowledgeable. and are more then happy to assist customer with plant selections and give great advice of what type of plant work best for you. It seemed to me that it's prices were pretty average, not too much above or below other nurseries. It;s not a huge place, but it is very well maintained. Definitely go here if you are in need of something green for your garden.  - Insiderpages

Botanical Nursery, Art, & Gifts. A High Sierra Garden Center

Villager Nursery is open Late March through December 22 (Christmas trees, wreaths, garland, holly, poinsettias, etc...). We are "mostly closed" in mid-winter (January and February). March and April are late winter when we begin to open again as weather, demand and common sense dictate.

While it is fine to plant trees, shrubs and bulbs ANYTIME, and plants are always happier in the ground than they are in pots, few people actually get out there and dig holes in mid-winter... we do, but that's us. 

If you need anything, please call to check with us as Google, Facebook, and, gawd forbid, Yelp are not always exactly up-to-date. Even in mid-winter we'd love to help you with products, plans, bids or consulting, please contact us with your questions or for an appointment.
